Night Terrors (working title: Attack Of The Sleep-Eez) is, without a doubt, the least interesting episode of NuWho ever devised. For those playing along at home, that makes it less interesting than Fear Her. It's like a maelstrom of mediocrity, summed in this ridiculously apropos quote from the Doctor himself: "So this, this, is just an average day at the office for me." It sure was.
Gatiss a shit.
Actors a shit too.
Amy gets turned into a doll, which ironically resulted in far less wooden acting from the character.
Fans were unhappy at this for many reasons, one of them being that the trailer made it look like the Celestial Toymaker was making a comeback, except in a story that would be GOAT instead of a story that would be overrated in the years to come simply because most of the footage was junked.
We learned this very day that Gatiss doesn't write anything GOAT (with the rare exception of The Empress of Arse). The BBC can junk this episode for all I care.
Turns out, it was just usual Moffat-era fare, the use of toys were just because ever since Moffat made the Weeping Angels, every other monster had to be based on things from childhood.
I guess the scenes in the toy house had a spooky atmosphere... that's the only nice thing I can say about this story.
